Archival Inquiry

From the early 20th century until its closing in 2016, the Wildenstein Institute assembled a vast collection of documentation and archival materials to support catalogue raisonné research and the work of its publishing imprints such as Beaux-Arts and Gazette des Beaux-Arts. In an effort to increase access to previously-undigitized materials from these archival collections, the WPI offers a fee-based Archival Inquiry service, which allows researchers to request that the WPI conduct a search within these archives for material that may be related to a particular artwork. To submit an Archival Inquiry, please review and confirm your agreement to the Terms and Conditions (Archival Inquiry) set forth below. The typical turnaround time for response to an Archival Inquiry is 2-4 weeks. Please note that complex requests will require additional time. This service requires a pre-payment of $750 plus New York state sales tax.
