The two new editions of the catalogue raisonné of Jean-Baptiste Siméon Chardin (1699–1779) offer drastic revisions to the artist’s painted œuvre. The works are no longer organized thematically, but rather chronologically, and the authors only included 406 paintings, down from the 1,237 inventoried in the 1933 edition of the catalogue.
