The WPI is pleased to announce its latest publication: The Letters of Edgar Degas edited by Theodore Reff. This hardbound, critical edition includes transcriptions of 1,240 letters Degas wrote over the course of fifty years. Reff, Professor Emeritus of Art History at Columbia University, has spent decades sourcing, transcribing, dating, and analyzing these documents, which are published here in the original French with English translations, along with Reff’s extensive annotations, appendices, and informative, engaging introduction. Presented here as a three-volume set in slipcase, and designed by Katy Homans, this handsome publication will be an indispensable resource for anyone interested in Degas, Impressionism, or 19th century French history and literature.

The Letters of Edgar Degas is distributed for the Wildenstein Plattner Institute by Penn State University Press. For retail information, please click here.
